Descripción de la Plaza

We are looking for a professional to lead agriculture technologies scaling up and support Project goals in Guatemala. The position will be supervised by the Technical Director and will coordinate actions with Project Partners (ICTA and UVG) as well as other organizations identified along the project development.

The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Collaborative Research on Sustainable Intensification (SIIL), Kansas State University, wa awarded by the USAID to implement the Feed the Future Guatemala Scaling Agriculture Technologies Coordination (GSCAT) project for the period January 2024-January 2029. The purpose is to strengthen existing research, education, and outreach entities in Guatemala. It will play a key role in coordinating the USG, donor groups, international and national agricultural project activities, and help key stakeholders and the private sector in Guatemala on Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) related research, education, extension and advisory activities. The model of promising CSA technologies will be showcased and disseminated to key stakeholders, including policy makers, private sector, development partners, researchers, extension groups and farmers.

General objective for this position:
Support the agriculture research activities, the development of the technology parks and technology scaling programs for producers in an appropriated and inclusive way

The successful candidate will focus on the following:
● Develop an inventory of climate-smart technologies that are ready to be scaled by Project partners and those that are used by private organizations or groups of innovative producers.
● Responsible for day- to-day activities and maintenance of technology parks by coordination with project partners.
● Conduct all farm activities (from land preparation to harvest) and maintain the model farms.
● Support research scholars in the selection of validated climate smart technologies to be scalable in selected geographical region
● Develop and implement workshops, field visits, and engage with local communities and the organization where research is being conducted and where technology parks are housed.
● Play active role in show-casing climate smart technologies, field days to visitors and all clientele.
● Planning and developing seminars, workshops promoting technologies in coordination with Project partners.
● Responsible for the maintenance, development and quality assurance of key partnerships, and initiate engagement with new strategic partners and networks.
● Contribute to operationalization of the Project strategic objectives promoting climate smart technologies and or regenerative agriculture.
● Responsible for mentoring and following up on selected teams by Project partners
● Support the Partners Project Managers, by coaching and building technical capacity and the ability to deliver data and timely reports.
● Keep organized and updated data project progress lines and consistent with the M & E system to ensure their implementation and impact.
● Prepare successful case studies on climate-smart technologies or technologies related to regenerative agriculture
● Accountable for developing the work plan with milestones to share with project partners and farmers organizations teams and agreeing on reporting frequencies
● Establish a regional multi-stakeholder platform to promote strategic alliances, share and scale CSA technologies, relevant information, accelerating and ensuring the transfer to producer groups.
● The Agriculture Technologies Coordinator will report to the Project Director, with linkages to the Associate Director (KSU)


Requisitos
The Ideal Candidate Will Fulfill The Following Requirements

● Must have no less than five years verifiable work experience in management of projects with international organizations.
● Minimum master’s degree in a relevant discipline (in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development) with a proven track record of leading Project development.
● Knowledge of operation and maintenance of all farm equipment.
● Hands-on experience with all farm operations.
● Knowledge of agricultural systems in the agro-hydro- ecological region.
● Proficient in English and Spanish.
● Good organizational and research management skills.
● Deep understanding and experience in technology transference models.
● Extensive experience on climate smart technologies and regenerative agriculture systems fostering sustainable value chains and food security.
● Proven experiences on knowledge management
● Experience on multistakeholder platform or technical round tables management.
● Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
● Accuracy in processing large and diverse quantities of data
● Experience in working in partnerships with businesses, NGOs, public and private foundations, academies, donors and government agencies.
● Experience working in multicultural settings
● Service-oriented, pragmatic, flexible
● Planning and organizational skills
● Must be able to travel regularly where project partners are working.
● Affinity with the vision and mission of KSU.
● Willingness to take on new challenges as the organization evolves and opportunities emerge
● Ability to work proactively and collaboratively in a complex and demanding environment
