Descripción de la Plaza

We are looking for a Communication Coordinator to support the Feed the Future Guatemala Scaling Agriculture Technologies Coordination Project. The position will be supervised by the Technical Director and will coordinate actions with Project Partners (ICTA and UVG) as well as other organizations identified along the project development. The individual will work under the direct supervision of the Project Director.

The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Collaborative Research on Sustainable Intensification (SIIL), Kansas State University, was awarded by the USAID to implement the Feed the Future Guatemala Scaling Agriculture Technologies Coordination (GSCAT) project for the period January 2024-January 2029. The purpose is to strengthen existing research, education, and outreach entities in Guatemala. It will play a key role in coordinating the USG, donor groups, international and national agricultural project activities, and help key stakeholders and the private sector in Guatemala on Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) related research, education, extension and advisory activities. The model of promising CSA technologies will be showcased and disseminated to key stakeholders, including policy makers, private sector, development partners, researchers, extension groups and farmers.

General objective for this position:
The Communication Coordinator -CC- will support communication and visibility efforts through the implementation of communication strategic plans. The CS will lead and provide support in the documentation of impact, success stories, pictures, videos, infographics, social media and media engagement for internal and external audiences based on the SILL and USAID guidelines.

The successful candidate will focus on the following:

● The Communication Coordinator will collaborate with the Project team internally, key project partners and stakeholders collecting packages of information for use in different platforms to increase visibility and credibility.
● Collaborate with the Project Director and team in the communication strategy that includes communication planning, budget and implementation of activities to ensure branding and messaging coherence.
● Provide communications and media support to project partners and project team according to the Project branding.
● Ensure communications and visibility in line with the KSU and USAID strategy and guidelines.
● Implement strategic media relations in close relation and coordination with the project partners
● Support development of pitches, success stories to be shared with the media.
● Regular update the Project press database.
● Lead development or gathering of multimedia contents (i.e. infographics, videos) for use online and in presentations.
● Write and edit web articles, social media post previously revised by Project Director or Associate Director.
● Coordinate timely content development of project impact, stories with project colleagues and partners and manage a quarterly editorial calendar for the proposed content and themes.
● Provide training to Project Staff and partners on dynamic communications tactics, including innovative media outreach, photography and digital content engaging social media.
● Collect and gather information to produce a range of communication materials for internal and external target audiences.
● Support training events (workshop, conference, seminars) and presentations for different audiences.
● Maintain continuous communication with the Project Managers of the partner organizations that promote different technologies.
● Coordinate the creation of digital content for required evaluation reports. Support the social media accounts.
● Create, and update a project website, and prepare evidence for press releases and other communication outlets.
● The Communication Coordinator will report to the Project Director with linkages to the Associate Director (SIIL)-KSU.


Requisitos
The Ideal Candidate Will Fulfill The Following Requirements
● A Bachelor Degree in Mass communication, Journalism and related disciplines
● 5+ years of professional experience in communications.
● Hands on experiences in graphic design and the use of graphic design software is a must.
● Demonstrable skills/experience in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop.
● Compelling writing for nonprofits
● Campaign development best practices
● Experience in working with multiple stakeholders and clients.
● Experience in multimedia, digital marketing, graphics design, journalism, media.
● Excellent written communication with the ability to write on various topics for different audiences
● Excellent interpersonal skills and team player.
● Good managerial skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
● Fluent in English, Spanish
● Experience working in multicultural settings
● Service-oriented, pragmatic, flexible
● Planning and organizational skills
● Must be able to travel regularly where project partners are working.
● Affinity with the vision and mission of KSU.
● Ability to work proactively and collaboratively in a complex and demanding environment
